YOU WON’T BE ALONE Trailer

Don’t be confused by the comforting title; Goran Stolevski’s feature debut You Won’t Be Alone looks like an unnerving horror delight.

The trailer doesn’t give away the plot, going more for mood than coherence, but I spot a baby-snatching, a menacing woodland creature, the best Lisbeth Salander, some serious nails, and time jumps. All of that checks out with the synopsis on IMDB, which says this is about a witch who takes over people’s bodies to survive for centuries. But who cares, this is a vibes trailer, and the vibes say it’s deeply creepy.

Stolevski is a relative unknown, but most of our current horror leaders were just a few years ago. They’ve brought about a renaissance for adult-oriented, vibes horror, and Stolevski seems to be picking that up and running with it. There are serious The Witch parallels here, even without knowing this is about a witch, which sets the bar pretty high.

The body-jumping nature of its protagonist likely means this will be a film without a true star, but as I alluded to, there are some recognizable faces here. I will always be excited about Noomi Rapace, and apparently, Alice Englert is around (maybe I just don’t recognize her?) along with 4 Months, 3 Weeks, and 2 Days star Anamaria Marinca. Those are some solid actors to show up for what are likely small parts, which is a great sign that the project is doing something truly interesting. Cross your fingers that this pans out.

You Won’t Be Alone is directed by Goran Stolevski and stars Noomi Rapace, Alice Englert, and Anamaria Marinca. It will be released in the US on April 1st, 2022. Further release dates are not currently known.
