A film crew breaks all the horror rules in X, the latest from writer/director Ti West.

We all know the things you shouldn’t do if you want to survive a horror film. Don’t go to an isolated farmhouse. Don’t proceed if you see suspicious-looking locals. And for the love of God, don’t have sex. So, I’m sure everything will be fine for the adult film crew doing a covert shoot at a Texas farmhouse within earshot of the odd owners, right?

Throwbacks to good old-fashioned horror are what Ti West does, so bringing out all the tropes of a ’70s slasher is exactly what you want from him. The director of The House of the Devil and The Innkeepers doesn’t update styles; he revives them, so expect this grainy, gritty-looking slasher to deliver all the retro horror thrills you could want.

Traveling for the slaughter is a talented cast that includes Mia Goth, Jenna Ortega, Brittany Snow, Kid Cudi, and Martin Henderson. There’s lots of horror experience there as well, so I see no reason why this shouldn’t hit the sweet spot.

West is pretty well known among horror aficionados, but with the backing of A24 for his latest, this could be his breakout to mainstream audiences.

is directed by Ti West and stars Mia Goth, Jenna Ortega, and Brittany Snow. It will be released in the US on March 18th, 2022. Further release dates are not currently known.
