WONDER WOMAN 1984 Trailer

Wonder Woman moves forward to the past in Wonder Woman 1984, continuing the adventures of a certain Amazonian superhero.

As you may guess from the title, we’re catching up with Wonder Woman/Diana in the ’80s, that magical time when big business was king and everyone was so flush with cash that they needed fanny packs to carry it all in. The evils are of that era are just under its glitzy surface, though, so Diana will have her hands full trying to ward off some hidden enemies. Good thing her old flame, Steve Trevor, is somehow back from the dead to help.

After the runaway success of Wonder Woman, it’s no surprise that a sequel was quickly arranged, and many rejoiced when director Patty Jenkins was kept on. She adds co-writing duties this time around, which will hopefully ensure the winning balance of humor, action, and meaning is struck again.

Of course, Gal Gadot is back as the titular superhero, and one more solo hit should make her the unequivocal face of the DCEU. Also returning is Chris Pine, whose chemistry (steamy and comedic) with Gadot was key to making the first round work. Joining the franchise is Pedro Pascal and Kristen Wiig.

Living up to the first film will be no small task, but the return of so many key players and a glitzy ’80s makeover just might do the trick.
