The machines come to life in Willy’s Wonderland, the latest Nicolas Cage goes berserk movie.

Once a place of food, games, and fun, Willy’s Wonderland has fallen into disrepair. In need of sprucing up, the owners hire a man passing through town for a one-night cleanup job. Easy enough, the drifter thought, until the animatronic entertainment comes to life and he finds himself in the middle of a strange, deadly ritual.

Comparisons to the video game series Five Nights at Freddy’s abound because, well, it’s basically the same setup. The creepy animatronics that “entertained” so many of us as kids make for easy horror schlock, which seems to be what Willy’s Wonderland is going for. This kind of low-budget genre movie is what director Kevin Lewis (The Drop, The Third Nail) has specialized in, and then there’s the Nic Cage of it all.

Make no mistake, weirdly violent Cage movies are a whole thing now, and people can’t get enough of them. A modestly budgeted movie like this is almost sure to make its money back as long as Cage gets bloody. And if he gets bloody fighting demon robots that remind us of our childhood? Then it’s sure to gain a following.

Willy’s Wonderland is directed by Kevin Lewis and stars Nicolas Cage, Emily Tosta, and Ric Reitz. It will be released on VOD in the US and the UK on February 12th, 2021. For international release dates, click here.
