WHAT MEN WANT Trailer

Remember when Mel Gibson played a charming guy who could read women’s minds? At this point in time, it’s hard to believe that such a time existed but What Men Want is a reminder of these days gone by. What Men Want fits a trend of recent remakes, like Ghostbusters and Ocean’s 8, featuring women in lead roles that were originally played by men.

What Men Want takes the same concept (person gets hit over the head and wakes up a mind reader) as the original, but with Taraji P. Henson in the lead role as a frustrated sports agent who keeps getting passed over for promotion due to her gender.

Once Ali Davis (Henson) realizes she can read her colleagues’ minds, she sets out to get the promotion she deserves. Things seem to fall into place for Ali but her gift has a dark side to it. Being able to read people’s minds may seem like fun but it also means realizing how many people around you are lying to you. This in turn causes dilemmas such as whether to confront people you know are lying to you and whether to use their ideas against them (which was one of the main plot points of What Women Want).

As is the case with any remake, it’ll be interesting to see what this adaptation brings to the table.

What Men Want is directed by Adam Shankman and stars Taraji P. Henson, Tracy Morgan, Chris Witaske, Tamala Jones, with cameos by Erykah Badu, Richard Roundtree, Mark Cuban, Grant Hill and Shaquille O’Neal. It will be released on February 8th, 2019 in the U.S. and January 25th, 2019 in the U.K. For international release dates click here.
