What Happened to Monday? is an upcoming adaptation of a script by Max Botkin which appeared on the Black List survey, previous entries to appear on the annual list have included scripts that resulted in well known films such as Juno, Notes on a ScandalThe Prestige, Whiplash, Arrival and Hell or High Water.

What Happened to Monday?, aka Seven Sisters, is an upcoming sci fi film in which families are no longer allowed more than one child per family due to overpopulation. The family at the center of this story is a family consisting of a father (Willem Dafoe) and seven identical sisters (Noomi Rapace, best known for her portrayal of Lisbeth Salander in the original Millenium film trilogy).

Whenever one of the sisters leaves the house they pretend to be Karen Settman, since there are seven sisters, each sister gets to leave the house once a week, on the day they were named for. Things go awry when Monday goes missing. If any of the sisters leave the house to look for her they will face great danger as the government is constantly looking for people who aren’t living by the one child rule.

Playing multiple roles is quite a challenge however there are examples of actors pulling it off such as James McAvoy in last year’s Split and Jeremy Irons in Dead Ringers, I am very interested to see what Noomi Rapace, who is a very talented actress, brings to the table in Seven Sisters.

What Happened to Monday aka Seven Sisterss is directed by Tommy Wirkola and stars Noomi Rapace, Glenn Close and Willem Dafoe. What Happened to Monday will be released by Netflix in the U.K. and the U.S. at an unknown date in 2017 with a release in France scheduled for August 23rd, 2017.
