Internet use has become pervasive, enabling a brand new kind of life online. With the introduction of smart gadgets, people basically have alternate lives in virtual reality. Sometimes it’s taken too far. So far that they leave the real world. Even more, they want you to join them. For that to happen though, you have to die. Unfriended tells the story of a group of friends being stalked by the online profile of their dead friend. Through mysterious and often gruesome ends, they join that friend one by one.
Unfriended is directed by Levan Gabriadze and features up-and-comers Matthew Bohrer and Courtney Halverson. It comes to U.S theaters April 17th 2015, U.K theatres May 1st 2015, and Brazilian teatros May 28th 2015. For any lucky Canadians reading this, it was already screened at 2014’s Fantasia International Film Festival.
