TRIANGLE OF SADNESS Trailer

Privilege sinks in Triangle of Sadness, the latest from writer/director Ruben Östlund.

The trip was to be an auspicious one. It was a cruise on a luxury yacht attended by some of the most wealthy people in the world, which of course means they are conscientious and well-behaved people on good days. When the boat encounters a storm and sinks, stranding them on a remote island, they handle the situation with all the poise you expect.

If you’ve seen Östlund’s previous films The Square and Force Majeure, you’ll know that no one will behave appropriately here. He’s tearing off the veneers people put up in polite society, often with uncomfortable and hilarious results. The spewing vomit and poop you get in this trailer is par for the course and is likely only a hint of the extremes the film will go to.

In the middle of the madness is a pair of models played by Harris Dickinson and Charlbi Dean and the Marxist captain of the boat played by Woody Harrelson. Co-starring is Dolly de Leon, Zlatko Burić, and Iris Berben.

This won’t be for the faint of heart, but anyone who enjoys seeing bitingly satirical films should enjoy themselves.

Triangle of Sadness is directed by Ruben Östlund and stars Harris Dickinson, Charlbi Dean, and Woody Harrelson. It will be released in the US on October 7th and the UK on October 28th. For international release dates, click here.
