THE WALL Trailer

Doug Liman is taking audiences back to war with The Wall, but the enemy is much more terrestrial this time around.

The Edge of Tomorrow and The Bourne Identity director scales the story back significantly here, distilling the action down to three men and the titular wall. It’s a simple playing field, but any poor moves will have deadly consequences. Time will be a big driver here, which Liman utilized expertly in Edge of Tomorrow and will need to master again if The Wall is to be the pressure cooker the trailer appears to be.

The two American soldiers in this pickle are played by recent Golden Globe winner Aaron Taylor-Johnson and wrestler John Cena, the latter of which surprised many with his comedic chops in Trainwreck. The Wall takes him down the more expected action movie route, but considering it looks like both men get shot early on, don’t expect him to be flipping his enemy on their head.

Their foe will be a largely unseen sniper, and with time and blood slowly leeching away, The Wall sets itself up as a tense look at small moments on a battlefield.

The Wall is directed by Doug Liman and stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson and John Cena. It will be released in the U.S. on May 12th, 2017. For international release dates, click here.
