THE SECRETS WE KEEP Trailer

The past haunts even when we want to forget in The Secrets We Keep, the latest from co-writer/director Yuval Adler.

Maja thought she had escaped when she came to the US after WWII. Her family had been caught up in the worst of it, but now that she’s settled into a comfortable suburban life with her American husband, the past has begun fading away. That is until she catches a glimpse of her neighbor, who bears a striking resemblance to one of her German tormentors. Convinced of his guilt, she kidnaps him and attempts some drawn-out revenge, much to the disbelief of her husband.

War thrillers seem to be Adler’s bread and butter, having previously directed Bethlehem, a twisty story of an Israeli Secret Service officer and his informant, and the tale of an undercover Mossad agent in The Operative. There’s no professional intelligence gathering here, just a lady with a justified ax to grind, but with uncertainty hanging about whether the neighbor is truly the German soldier she remembers, this looks to have much the same high stakes mystery.

And like in The OperativeAdler is working with an impressive cast. Noomi Rapace and Joel Kinnaman are the neighbors with some serious problems to work out while Chris Messina and Amy Seimetz play their respective partners. All four are capable of really digging into the meaty thrills these promises, so this very well might be one to seek out.

The Secrets We Keep is directed by Yuval Adler and stars Noomi Rapace, Joel Kinnaman, Chris Messina, and Amy Seimetz. It will be released in theaters in the US on September 16th, 2020. For international release dates, click here.
