THE OUTSIDE STORY Trailer

A man does what we all dream of doing in The Outside Story, the feature debut of writer/director Casimir Nozkowski.

Okay, it’s literally just going outside and running into people, but how many of us can do that right now? Not many!

In the before times, some people actually chose to live huddled inside, and Charles was one of them. He loved his girlfriend and their comfortable apartment, and he saw little reason to leave. His girlfriend wanted more in life, though, and left him after becoming bored. That’s when he locks himself out of the apartment, inadvertently forcing himself into the wide world outside.

While pondering some pretty deep issues, The Outside Story isn’t billing itself as too heavy a drama. There’s a tinge of hope as Charles explores the world around him, which will be a tough tone to maintain for Nozkowski, even if he’s far from a newcomer. While this is his first feature, he’s been prolific in the shorts world, which should serve as excellent preparation for this film.

Also stepping onto a bigger stage is Brian Tyree Henry as Charles, who’s been a supporting player in movies like Godzilla vs. Kong and If Beale Street Could Talk. He’s tasked with carrying this film as a talented ensemble, which includes Sonequa Martin-Green, Sunita Mani, Michael Cyril Creighton, and Asia Kate Dillon, bounces off of him.

Let’s face it, no matter how awkward Charles is as he ventures outside, we’re all about to be the same way. Maybe take this one as a look into the future.

The Outside Story is directed by Casimir Nozkowski and stars Brian Tyree Henry, Sonequa Martin-Green, and Sunita Mani. It will be released in the US on VOD on April 30th, 2021. Further release dates are not currently known.
