THE LOST CITY Trailer

Misadventure abounds in The Lost City, the latest from the directing duo Aaron Nee and Adam Nee.

In a classic rom-com setup, romance writer Loretta’s books are full of things she never experiences in life. When a wealthy eccentric mistakes her writing for real knowledge, he forces her into the jungle to find the mythical city her characters search for while getting busy in their tents. Suddenly in very real danger, her best hope for escape becomes her cover model, Alan, who dashes into the jungle to prove to her that he’s more than a pretty face.

This is an infinitely silly setup, and the movie knows that. That’s why you’ve got Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum as the two leads, who are infinitely silly, likable actors who are adept at exactly this kind of entertainment. Throw in a side of Daniel Radcliffe as the wealthy eccentric and a dash of Brad Pitt in a cameo and you’ve got a winning cast that can make such silliness work.

The two men behind the cameras are the wildcards here. Brothers Aaron and Adam Nee have made two features previously, the mumblecore film The Last Romantic and the adventure comedy Band of Robbers. While the latter has some genre overlap with The Lost City, neither production has been anywhere near this scale, so it will be interesting to see if they can keep this crowdpleaser on the rails.

The Lost City is directed by Aaron and Adam Nee and stars Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, and Daniel Radcliffe. It will be released in the US on March 25th, 2022. For international release dates, click here.
