THE LITTLE THINGS Trailer

The hunt is on for a serial killer in The Little Things, the latest from writer/director John Lee Hanc*ck.

Deke and Jimmy aren’t the most natural partners. They’re from different agencies, for one thing, and Jimmy has been playing the game to move quickly up the career ladder while Deke has remained a deputy. That doesn’t mean either of them are bad at their jobs, though, which is why they’re both working the case of an active serial killer. They have their hunches, but pinning down the man responsible takes a lot of hard work, and they find themselves disagreeing on how to get from hunch to conviction.

A gritty crime thriller like this seems right in line for Hanc*ck, who has built his career on commercial fare like The Rookie and The Blind Side but recently shifted to the crime genre with The HighwaymenThe Little Things looks like a blend of these two kinds of films, one that’s darkly approachable but with the potential for prestige.

It certainly has the cast to draw attention across the board, with awards and audience favorites Denzel Washington, Rami Malek, and Jared Leto starring. It’s a great trio, for sure, but having such a high profile performer as Leto plays the suspected killer kind of makes you want to drop the “suspected” moniker. Still, that leaves Denzel and Rami’s jockeying cops center stage, and that’s more than enough to sustain a film.

The Little Things is directed by John Lee Hanc*ck and stars Denzel Washington, Rami Malek, and Jared Leto. It will be released in the US in theaters and on HBO Max on January 29th, 2021 and in the UK on February 12th, 2021. For international release dates, click here.
