THE KID Trailer

A boy must choose his path in The Kid, a western that pits the excitement of an outlaw against the order of a lawman.

The titular kid is forced into action when his uncle kidnaps his sister for ransom, a complicated situation that leaves him with many ways to resolve the matter. Not simplifying things is the unlikely duo who ends up helping him: infamous outlaw Billy the Kid and sheriff Pat Garrett. If you know your wild west history, then you know that these two are tied to a larger destiny, but for this story, it’s their influence on the boy that is key.

Directing the film is Vincent D’Onofrio, a man you probably know for his numerous acting roles and not his directorial debut, the forgotten horror musical Don’t Go in the Woods. That was a film slapped together on a shoestring budget, though, nothing at all like the robust western The Kid promises to be. Essentially, this will be our first look at D’Onofrio the director, and of course he is aided by a stellar cast.

D’Onofrio himself, Dane DeHaanEthan Hawke, and Chris Pratt all star (yes, that’s quite a few co-stars from 2016’s The Magnificent Seven remake). The unknown is the key player, though, with Jake Schur making his debut as the titular kid. Dipping into history makes this instantly intriguing, and hopefully the new angle on these infamous characters fulfills that promise.

The Kid is directed by Vincent D’Onofrio and stars Jake Schur, Dane DeHaan, and Ethan Hawke. It will be released in the US on March 8th, 2019. For international release dates, click here.
