THE HOUSE Trailer

The House is an upcoming comedy about Scott and Kate Johansen (Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler) a married couple trying to come up with a way to finance their daughter Alex’s (Ryan Simpkins) tuition. They turn to Frank (Jason Mantzoukas) who offers them an easy solution to earn the money to pay for a four year college education, namely turning their house into an underground casino for the next month. As the casino grows in popularity the money starts to corrupt the previously relatively normal parents. Their increasingly erratic behavior starts to draw the attention of some of the locals.

The House looks like it could be a fun parody of serious casino and crime based films, such as Casino, which is referenced in the trailer, in the same way the Scary Movie franchise made fun of many of the classics in the horror genre. The comedic talent involved, Ferrell, Mantzoukas and Poehler, is top notch so expect The House to have plenty of laughs in it.

A film with such a silly premise shouldn’t take itself too seriously and it looks like everyone involved knows what they’ve gotten themselves into. I’m hopeful that The House will just go for the laughs without worrying about moral lessons like so many other comedies do.

The House is directed by Andrew Jay Cohen and stars Will Ferrell, Jason Mantzoukas and Amy Poehler. It will be relased in the U.K and the U.S. on June 30th. For international release dates click here.
