THE HIGHWAYMEN Trailer

Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson track down Bonnie & Clyde in The Highwaymen, the latest from director John Lee Hanc*ck.

The infamous bank robbers drew increased attention after orchestrating a prison break for their partners in crime, embarrassing Texas lawmen and prompting them to take extreme measures to stop the duo. That’s where Costner and Harrelson step in as the gruff police offers brought out of retirement to bring their illicit reign to an end. It’s a real-life setup turned into a classic cinema scenario: a chase across the American west, and yes, it will be just as wild as you imagine it.

The film represents a turning point for Hanc*ck, whose stock took a fall after The Founder flopped. His previous two films, The Blind Side and Saving Mr. Banks, were Oscar contenders, and now he’s aiming to reestablish himself with this Netflix release.

Of course, that means it will be available to pretty much everyone, and with Costner and Harrelson’s faces front and center, it should be an appealing click. They’re not even bothering to play the Bonnie & Clyde angle in the marketing, instead letting the two character’s prickly banter and hot hands stand for themselves. Hopefully that’s enough to keep people watching (not that Netflix will tell us its numbers either way).

The Highwaymen is directed by John Lee Hanc*ck and stars Kevin CostnerWoody Harrelson, and Kathy Bates. It will be released on Netflix on March 29th, 2019.
