It’s assassin versus assassin in The Gray Man, the latest from directors Anthony and Joe Russo.
The plot here is pretty simple: after doing the CIA’s dirty work for years, Court Gentry finds himself as the agency’s next target. With an equally skilled assassin whose work is as off the books (aka brutal and relentless) as his was, on his tail, the pair face off in a globetrotting battle royale.
Movies don’t have to be complicated, and The Gray Man doesn’t give a hint of complication. It’s action, action, a bit of espionage, and more action, with some of the best in the business giving Netflix a blockbuster of its own.
Top of the big names are the Russo brothers, who proved their skill by crafting the end of the MCU’s Phase 4. You know, just some of the biggest movies of all time that had to wrap up over ten years of stories. An action-thriller should be nothing in comparison.
They bring over their old pal from the MCU Chris Evans to play one of the two assassins, but the real casting news here was getting Ryan Gosling to play Court. He took a break after 2018’s First Man, and this marks his return to the big screen. Helping hold down this behemoth of a streaming movie are Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick, and Regé-Jean Page.
The Gray Man is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and stars Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, and Ana de Armas. It will have a limited theatrical release on July 15th before releasing worldwide on Netflix on July 22nd.
