THE FOREIGNER Trailer
Hi all, I'm a 27 year old Dutchman. I'm a…
The Foreigner is an upcoming action film starring Jackie Chan, the legendary martial artist turned actor from Hong Kong. The film is an adaptation of a novel named The Chinaman by Stephen Leather. Chan plays Quan, a businessman whose daughter (Katie Leung) is killed in a terrorist attack. After the attack, Quan decides to dedicate his life to finding the men responsible for his daughter’s death. Once Quan realizes he can’t bribe officials into giving him the names of those responsible, he starts to intimidate Liam Hennessy (Pierce Brosnan) the man in charge of the investigation.
Considering this film was directed by Martin Campbell, the man behind GoldenEye and Casino Royale, two of the more memorable films in the Bond franchise, The Foreigner looks like a film that will be more than a generic action film, this looks like a film with potential.
This trailer immediately reminded me of two films that deal with similar subject matter, the 2002 Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle Collateral Damage and the 2009 Hong Kong crime thriller Vengeance starring French superstar Johnny Hallyday. The other reason to be excited about this film is the fact Jackie Chan can still kick some serious butt, not just for a man his age but in general. If this trailer is any indication I’d say, this film looks like it will be a worthy entry in the so-called geriaction subgenre.
