THE DIRT Trailer
Hi all, I'm a 27 year old Dutchman. I'm a…
The Dirt has been in the works ever since the eponymous book was published in 2001. The Dirt is the story of the metal band Mötley Crüe and their wild lives on and off the stage during their 1980s heyday and beyond.
While The Dirt looks like it will contain plenty of graphic depictions of the sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll lifestyle of the band, the trailer shows there was more to the individual band members. Bass player Nikki Sixx (Douglas Booth) suffered a drug overdose, drummer Tommy Lee (Machine Gun Kelly) had a number of tumultuous marriages, guitarist Mick Mars (Iwan Rheon) was diagnosed with a rare bone disease and lead singer Vince Neil (Daniel Webber) lost a daughter to a rare form of kidney cancer after being involved in a drunk driving incident which left one of his friends dead.
It’s hard to judge what the focus of the film will be, the tone of the trailer suggests the film might be a bit preoccupied with the, at this point, tired stories of how much trouble the band members used to get into while drunk or on drugs. It seems like pretty much every rock/metal band has stories about drunk driving, groupies, throwing TVs out of windows and destroying hotel rooms just for the hell of it. Let’s hope The Dirt dares to be about more than that.
The Dirt is directed by Jeff Tremaine and stars Douglas Booth, Iwan Rheon and Machine Gun Kelly. The film will be released worldwide by Netflix on March 22nd, 2019.
