The Dead Don’t Die is the latest film by independent film icon Jim Jarmusch. After a number of people in Pleasantville are murdered in horrific fashion, Officer Ronald Peterson (Adam Driver), Chief Cliff Roberson (Bill Murray) and Officer Minerva Morrison (Chloë Sevigny) start an investigation. As the murders start to escalate it quickly becomes apparent they’re dealing with zombie killers.
Zombies have featured in a huge number of films and TV series over the years. The films that have stood out in the sub genre have been the ones that introduced new elements to our understanding of the genre as well as the films that used the context of a zombie apocalypse to sneak in social commentary. It’ll be interesting to see what Jarmusch brings to the genre.
The Dead Don’t Die is directed by Jim Jarmusch and stars Adam Driver, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton and Steve Buscemi. It will be released on July 12th, 2019 in the U.K. and on June 14th, 2019 in the U.S. For international release dates click here.
