Ed and Lorraine Warren get involved in a murder trial in The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, the latest from director Michael Chaves.
The case began like so many of theirs did: a family experienced unexplainable occurrences, the children behaved erratically, and Ed and Lorraine were called in to assist. What they found was an extraordinary case where a young boy was being targeted by a demon, and in the fray to save him things went terribly wrong. A murder occurred, and suddenly the family matter spilled into the courts and onto the front page as they argued the demon was to blame.
As per usual with The Conjuring series, the story is loosely based on the lives of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, which were eventful enough to fill eight movies so far. Chaves, in fact, is returning to the series after helming The Curse of La Llorona, so expect him to be comfortable with how this series handles itself.
Returning as Ed and Lorraine is the inimitable Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, who this round are joined by The Haunting of Hill House and WandaVision alum Julian Hilliard. Even though Hilliard’s just a boy, he’s been around some hauntings before, so he should slide right in with all the series’ seasoned pros to keep this horror franchise chugging along.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It is directed by Michael Chaves and stars Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga, and Julian Hilliard. It will be released in the US in theaters and on HBO Max on June 4th, 2021, and in the UK on May 28th, 2021. For international release dates, click here.
