The Big Short tells the story of the global economic meltdown in 2007-2010 and the men who made millions of dollars from it. Four men saw the global collapse of the economy coming while the big banks, media and governments still refused to and had an idea: The Big Short. This lead them into the dark underbelly of modern banking where nothing is as it seems. It is based on the book of the same name by Michael Lewis.
The Big Short is directed by Adam McKay, and features a star-studded cast, including Brad Pitt and Christian Bale, as well as Karen Gillan, Melissa Leo, Marisa Tomei, Ryan Gosling and Steve Carell. It is currently scheduled for release in the U.S. for December 25 – it doesn’t exactly sound like a Christmas movie, and is probably scheduled as such so it can qualify for awards season. No U.K. release date is known yet – for other international release dates, check here!
