Margot Robbie continues to wrest control of her career with Terminal, the latest star vehicle for the actor and producer.
Like I, Tonya before it, Robbie helped bring this stylish tale to the big screen through her production company, LuckyChap Entertainment. The trailer sets up a twisty scenario, with characters bouncing off one another in strange and often threatening ways. There’s a couple hitmen, a morose-looking wanderer, an offbeat janitor, and Robbie’s character popping up all over the place. That motley group and the film’s title pretty much ensures someone will die, and from the looks of things, their cat-and-mouse games will play out under bright neon lights.
The film marks the debut feature for writer/director Vaughn Stein, who doesn’t seem to be risk-averse in his first outing. I believe there’s a dark streak of humor under all this neo-noir goodness, or maybe I was just distracted by Mike Myers. Yes, this is the project that puts Myers’ face back on the big screen, having been absent since 2009’s Inglourious Basterds. He’s the strange janitor, naturally, and it’ll be interesting to see why this role drew him back.
Rounding out the cast is Simon Pegg, Max Irons, and Dexter Fletcher, making for an odd but strong assortment of actors tasked with bringing this distinctive thriller to life.
Terminal is directed by Vaughn Stein and stars Margot Robbie, Simon Pegg, and Mike Myers. It will be released in the US on May 11th, 2018. For international release dates, click here.
