SYNCHRONIC Trailer

A new drug can really take you places in Synchronic, the latest from the directing duo of Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead.

Dennis and Steve are among the first to see the drug Synchronic creeping into their community. As paramedics, they begin getting strange calls linked to the drug, and when Steve finds out he only has a short time to live, he decides to rid the streets of the growing problem himself. It’s only when he tries Synchronic that he realizes it gives you the incredible ability to travel through time. Suddenly he has the opportunity to do so much more with the time he has left if only he can figure out how to control it.

Benson (who also wrote the script) and Moorhead have been making strange genre fare like this for a while, building up a solid reputation with smaller films like The Endless and Spring. It looks like they got a bit more money for this outing, which lets them get plenty weird, but it also means they’ve got a majorly upgraded cast.

Anthony Mackie gets to shake off the MCU as the afflicted Steve while Jamie Dornan (who is great in things outside of the 50 Shades franchise) is his concerned partner. For as strange as this movie promises to be, it also appears to be very rooted in the relationship between these two men, and having two very capable actors in these roles should be well-spent money by the rising filmmakers.

Synchronic is directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead and stars Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan. It will be released in theaters in the US on October 23rd, 2020. To keep up to date with its release schedule, click here.
