Laurel & Hardy were one of the most iconic comedy double acts of the silent film era. Over the course of 30 years together they managed to put out 106 films. It’s a minor miracle it’s taken this long for a film about the dynamic duo to come to fruition. With leads like John C. Reilly and Steve Coogan, this project always looked promising.
The first trailer for Stan & Ollie shows us a very different side of the two comedy geniuses. Hardy is experiencing health issues while Laurel is mad at him for taking on a role without consulting with him first. Due to changes in the industry, the aging duo find themselves having to go on tour while trying to put together financing for a new film. Although the film doesn’t come out for quite a while, this first look is very promising.
Stan & Ollie is directed by Jon S. Baird and stars Steve Coogan, John C. Reilly, Shirley Henderson, Danny Huston and Susy Kane. It will be released in the U.K. on January 11th, 2019 with an as of yet unknown U.S. release date. For international release dates click here.
