SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME Trailer

Peter Parker leaves his beloved New York City behind in Spider-Man: Far From Home, but he’s not able to stop his web-slinging ways.

The trip is supposed to be a well-deserved break for the young superhero, a time to hang out with friends and make his move on MJ. Problem is that threats can crop up anywhere, and he just happens to be in the right place at the right time when the Elementals, a team of old school gods, try to take over Earth once again. It definitely won’t be the relaxing trip he was expecting, but luckily he has his trusty friends, Nick Fury, and a new ally, Mysterio, to help him handle the baddies.

Far From Home marks the return of director Jon Watts, who kicked off this rebooted Spider-Man with the affable Homecoming. The stakes are much bigger this time around, though, so that high school movie aesthetic won’t fly again. Considering how raw he was coming into the series, he’s still the biggest question mark on the film.

Conversely, Tom Holland has quickly settled into the Spidey suit thanks to his numerous appearances in other MCU films. Avengers: Infinity War cemented him as a fan favorite, and with the rest of the Homecoming gang returning, they are certain to generate a good bit of charm.

The newcomer is arguably the biggest news, though, with this trailer providing our first look at Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio. The character is strangely being introduced as an ally to Spider-Man, but those familiar with the comics know that he’s a notorious villain. Whether this turn happens in Far From Home or later in the series is sure to generate a lot of chatter, but let’s be real, people were going to find something to chatter about until this much-anticipated film hits theaters.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is directed by Jon Watts and stars Tom HollandSamuel L. Jackson, and Zendaya. It will be released in the US on July 5th, 2019. For international release dates, click here.
