SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR Trailer

Welcome back to the hard-boiled capital of the world in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Personal narratives from character’s respective points of view bring the city to life as they set out on escapades involving murder, political intrigue, and passionate trysts.  From the mind of Frank Miller, brought to the silver screen by Robert Rodriguez, comes the second film in the Sin City franchise. Several stars are returning to roam the streets, including Mickey Rourke and Jessica Alba, with additional cast featuring the likes of Joseph Gordon-Levitt and the seductive Eva Green as Ava Lord.

Old Faces

This movie achieves being both a prequel and sequel to the original film by mixing old characters with new narratives to the Sin City mythology. In addition, Frank Miller wrote two original stories solely for the film itself. There will be four narratives in the film focusing on the characters of Marv, Dwight McCarthy, Johnny (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt), and Nancy Callahan. Marv (Mickey Rourke) is back in action crashing through glass in the opening shot. Nancy Callahan (played by Jessica Alba) returns to us not as the sweet girl from the first film, but as a hardened woman bent on revenge. In the trailer, she is drinking a bottle of whiskey and keeps a pistol close to her heart intent on avenging Hartigan’s death (Bruce Willis).

New Faces

Josh Brolin is introduced as the before-surgery Dwight McCarthy while Clive Owen returns as the after-surgery version of the character. It’ll be intriguing to see how Rodriguez will contrast the two Dwights. Interesting to note are the new actors replacing roles in this film. Manute, the one eyed brute formerly played by the dearly departed Michael Clarke Duncan, will be replaced by Dennis Haysbert. Another returning character changing faces will be Miho, who will be portrayed by Jamie Chung of MTV’s Realworld fame, instead of Devon Aoki who is absent for her second pregnancy. Lastly, Jeremy Piven will replace Michael Madsen‘s character, Bob, as Hartigan’s former partner.

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For will be released in the U.S on August 22, 2014, and in the U.K on August 25. Find international release dates here.
