THE SHORT HISTORY OF THE LONG ROAD Trailer

A teenage girl tries to find her own way in The Short History of the Long Road, the latest from writer/director Ani Simon-Kennedy.
Nola had spent her life traveling with her father. He wasn’t a man to be tied down, instead taking his daughter around the country and working odd jobs to sustain them. Suddenly without him and with no other idea of how to live life, Nola takes their beat-up RV on her own trip to find her mother.
Is it just me or is there a ton of road movies coming out lately? It’s a bit mean given our current lives, but I’ll take the fantasies.
Simon-Kennedy couldn’t have imagined how her film would be released when it premiered at last year’s Tribeca Film Festival, especially given the warm reaction it received. But VOD it is, and hopefully, that’s enough for the relatively green filmmaker (she’s got one feature and several shorts under her belt) to continue climbing in the industry.
The film benefits from having a well-known star playing Nola, with Sabrina Carpenter making the shift into adult fare. She’s done plenty of work for the Disney Channel, and breaking out of that is always tricky. This gives her the opportunity to really carry a film, as it looks like co-stars Steven Ogg, Danny Trejo, and Maggie Siff have pretty small parts. Hopefully, her and Simon-Kennedy’s work lives up to the festival hype.
The Short History of the Long Road is directed by Ani Simon-Kennedy and stars Sabrina Carpenter, Steven Ogg, Danny Trejo, and Maggie Siff. It will be released in the US on VOD on June 16th, 2020. Further release dates are not currently known.
