SHIRLEY Trailer

A young couple finds out that chilling with a horror writer isn’t relaxing in Shirley, the latest from director Josephine Decker.
With several recent adaptations of her work, even more people know the name Shirley Jackson. I mean, how many were thrilled by The Haunting of Hill House series on Netflix and sought out more of her work? This isn’t an adaptation but it jumps off her mystique, using a fictionalized version of the famous writer to imagine the damage she could do if she turned her twisted mind on those around her. Namely, she and her husband are playing with a young couple who’ve entered their lives without having a clue what they’re in for.
Outside of the Shirley Jackson hook, many people will be excited for this because of Decker, who wowed with 2018’s Madeline’s Madeline. That was a highly stylized, tactile film, and this should give her plenty of bizarre things to sink her claws into as well.
Then there’s everybody’s favorite Elisabeth Moss playing Jackson, the go-to for barely hinged characters. She should have a ball with this role, as should Michael Stuhlbarg, Logan Lerman, and Odessa Young as the three people caught in her web. Basically, this movie is stacked with reasons to watch it, so I don’t know what else I need to say.
Shirley is directed by Josephine Decker and stars Elisabeth Moss, Michael Stuhlbarg, Logan Lerman, and Odessa Young. It will be available in the US on VOD on June 5th, 2020. Further release dates are not currently known.
