SHE DIES TOMORROW Trailer

The end is looming (maybe) in She Dies Tomorrow, the latest from writer/director Amy Seimetz.

For reasons she can’t quite put her finger on, Amy is convinced that she knows when she will die. She’s not sick. She doesn’t have a hit placed on her. Nothing is obviously wrong, but she’s sure the end is coming. And she’s not keeping the paranoia to herself. Weirdly, as she shares her conviction with others they start to be convinced of their own death, which doesn’t lead to the best life choices.

The setup sounds super serious, but it appears Seimetz layers in plenty of humor to this paranoia fest. And who doesn’t want to laugh about spiraling paranoia? It’s not like we’re all stuck in a hellhole of fear and disaster that’s completely out of control (or at least Americans aren’t). Wait, am I getting the certainty of death delusion?

Anyway, Seimetz has impressed many as she’s moved into writing and directing with the feature Sun Don’t Shine and the TV series The Girlfriend Experience. She hasn’t abandoned her acting career, though, and actually used the money she made from Pet Sematary to fund this new feature.

And in keeping with the insular, low budget world she most often moves in, she’s hired familiar faces in front of the camera. Kate Lyn Sheil and Kentucker Audley, who starred in Sun Don’t Shine, return for Seimetz’s follow up. Co-starring with them are Jane Adams, Katie Aselton, and Chris Messina.

This looks like one of those films that will benefit from the world we find ourselves in, playing right into so many people’s uneasy mental state. We’ll see if that sells.
