Adversaries come from all over the food chain in Rogue, the latest from co-writer/director M.J. Bassett.

The mission was never going to be easy. Samantha was tasked with leading her team on a rescue mission in an isolated area of Africa, and despite pulling off the tough rescue, they can’t seem to find their way to safety. With their plans falling apart and adversaries closing in, they stumble upon an abandoned house that could provide some safety. And that’s when the lions show up. That’s right, this movie ups the ante with lions, because why not.

Look, this movie clearly wants to deliver some thrills, which is something Bassett has been doing for a long time. Movies like Solomon Kane and Silent Hill: Revelation kicked off her career before she transitioned into TV work, having directed episodes of Ash vs Evil Dead and PowerRogue marks her return to features, and it doesn’t look like her interests have shifted while she was working behind the small screen.

This project does present a change of pace for its star, Megan Fox. She’s done plenty of big-budget blockbusters, but putting herself at the center of an action movie is a new wrinkle. Hopefully, she’ll fit in with the madcap stunts (and avoid the lions).

Rogue is directed by M.J. Bassett and stars Megan Fox, Jessica Sutton, and Lee-Anne Liebenberg. It will be released in the US on VOD on August 28th, 2020. For further release dates, click here.
