PLAN B Trailer

It’s misadventures on a deadline in Plan B, the latest from director Natalie Morales.

Sunny didn’t have any experience when she managed to get the attention of her crush at a party, so she wasn’t able to spot a condom mishap until it was far too late. Luckily her friend Lupe has her back and directs her to get the morning-after pill. This proves harder than either of them expected, though, and what should have been a simple task quickly becomes a confounding and strange odyssey through the restrictive side of America.

Morales, who you probably know best as an actor from Parks and Recreation and Happily, has been directing shorts and television for years now, but 2021 is the year she breaks into features in a big way. She’s already had the pandemic era production Language Lessons premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival, and with Plan B she jumps into the bigger, more commercial arena of a Hulu comedy about high school shenanigans.

These sorts of buddy films live and die by the chemistry of their leads, so much will depend on how well Kuhoo Verma as Sunny and Victoria Moroles as Lupe click. And on top of that they, along with Morales, will have to blend the underlying message about access to reproductive health care into the comedy. Unfortunately, we’re seeing a lot more films take on the subject, so hopefully, they can make the strengths of their predecessors into their own fun-filled confection.

Plan B is directed by Natalie Morales and stars Kuhoo Verma and Victoria Moroles. It will be released in the US on Hulu on May 28th, 2021. Further release dates are not currently known.
