THE ONLY LIVING BOY IN NEW YORK Trailer

The career revitalization of director Marc Webb continues with The Only Living Boy in New York, which has some pretty clear correlations to the Simon & Garfunkel song of the same name even without its use in the trailer.
Callum Turner is the only living boy in America’s largest city, and he’s suffering from a bit of ennui. There’s this girl, you see, that doesn’t reciprocate his love, but there’s also his father’s mistress throwing herself at him. He’s in a bit of a pickle, and everyone, it seems, wants to talk through their feelings.
This might sound like Woody Allen’s version of The Graduate, but Allen wasn’t involved with The Only Living Boy in New York; at least not that Allen. The film actually came from writer Allan Loeb, and Webb has been attached since his Amazing Spider-Man days.
The ending of that series and the wrap on Webb’s return to form Gifted means that people are feeling more confident in The Only Living Boy in New York, and why not? The cast is tremendous, with up-and-comers Turner and Kiersey Clemons looking like they have real chemistry, Kate Beckinsale turning on the seductress charm, and Jeff Bridges giving no-nonsense advice. Its theatrical run will likely be limited, but with streaming rights going to Amazon, The Only Living Boy should find a welcoming audience.
The Only Living Boy in New York is directed by Marc Webb and stars Callum Turner, Kate Beckinsale, Jeff Bridges, and Pierce Brosnan. It will be released in the U.S. on August 11th, 2017. For international release dates, click here.
