ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD Trailer

Whenever Quentin Tarantino releases a new film, Hollywood pays attention. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is a film set during the summer of 1969 when actress Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie) was murdered by followers of the infamous cult leader Charles Manson (Damon Herriman). The plot focuses on aging western superstar Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). Dalton lives next door to Sharon Tate and her husband, Polish film director Roman Polanski (Rafał Zawierucha).

When the film was first announced much of the controversy focused on whether Tarantino is the right filmmaker to be making a film about the gruesome Tate/LaBianca murders. In response to this Tarantino sat down with Sharon Tate’s sister Debra and read her the entire script after which she was said to have changed her mind. This seems to indicate the film might take the same approach as Inglorious Basterds which featured Jewish American soldiers including Lt. Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) killing Adolf Hitler.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is the 9th film by Tarantino which means he will only make one more film after this one, if he sticks to his guns. Although technically speaking Kill Bill was made up of two separate films and he directed a short film as part of Four Rooms so in a way Hollywood is his 10th or 11th film depending on your method of counting.

Whether this will be his penultimate film or not, Tarantino has taken audiences around the world on some crazy rides these past few decades and this one won’t be an exception. Let’s hope he will reconsider his decision to retire like Steven Soderbergh did.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is directed by Quentin Tarantino and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and Al Pacino. It will be released in the U.S. on July 26th, 2019 and in the U.K. on August 14th, 2019. For international release dates click here.
