MOONFALL Trailer

Get ready to be hit by some silliness in Moonfall, the latest from co-writer and director Roland Emmerich.

We all know what an Emmerich movie entails at this point, right? At least, we all know this kind of Emmerich movie, the ones where a catastrophic event launches the entire world into chaos and some scattered, plucky people do something ridiculous to save the world. It should be laughable, but Emmerich has a panache that goads you into laughing with these dumb lugs.

Here, the plot is in the title: the moon is falling to Earth. Obviously, the moon making impact with our planet would destroy humanity, but even before that all of the things regulated by its gravitational pull would be thrown off  (hence, I assume, the out of control water, but I’m really hoping Emmerich dives into some moon regulates menstrual cycles nonsense).

So plenty of disaster scenarios for Emmerich to indulge in, and as per usual, he’s got an impressive cast running around the chaos. The main trio out to save us is Halle Berry’s NASA exec Jo, Patrick Wilson’s astronaut Brian, and John Bradley’s conspiracy theorist KC. If the latter team member didn’t tip you off, their plan is a bit out there, but I guess you have to get out there to stop the Moon.

Moonfall is directed by Roland Emmerich and stars Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, and John Bradley. It will be released in the US and the UK on February 4th, 2022. For international release dates, click here.

I would ask if you’re going to check this out, but come on, it’s the moon crashing into Earth. I guess if you want to get fancy you could watch Melancholia instead. So what is it going to be, MoonfallMelancholia, or both?
