Stunning Mockingjay Propaganda Posters

If you’re a bit like me, you’re eagerly awaiting the release of the third part of the The Hunger Games film franchise: Mockingjay Part 1. I was already a fan of the books before the films came out, and I’m a satisfied fan – in my opinion, they’re doing really good at translating the original trilogy to the screen.
For the uninitiated (are there still any?), The Hunger Games tells the story of a future, dystopian nation called Panem, in which the Capitol takes two children from each of its thirteen Districts, yearly. They are forced to compete in The Hunger Games, a sick television game where the children have to kill all other competitors, and the last one standing wins. The heroine is Katniss Everdeen, who has to participate in The Hunger Games, and eventually becomes a great symbol for the resistance against the Capitol and its leader, President Snow.
Neither in The Hunger Games nor in Catching Fire did we get to see much of the districts, other than 12, Katniss’ district. The posters below were released recently by Lionsgate, and they’re pretty incredible. They show “heroes” of each of the Districts, including a description of what they and each District contribute to Panem. Particularly the poster for Districts 7 and 12 are arresting: the amputee lumberjack of District 7 sitting with his wooden leg on his lap, and the poor young girl from District 12 with a layer of soot over her face, signaling the duty of 12: mining.

Unfortunately, there are only posters for Districts 3, 4, 6, 7, 9 10 and 12 and I’m left wanting to see the posters of the remaining Districts, too!
These posters are a great way to create anticipation around a movie; I have to admit I’m doubly excited about the movie’s release now. I can also recommend you take a look at the Panem website, thecapitol.pn (look at that extension!) a website sanctioned by the Capitol Ministry of Information. Excellent.
Finally, for your enjoyment, here is President Snow’s address to Panem.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is scheduled for release in the U.S. and U.K. on November 21, 2014. For international release dates, check this page.
Which of the posters do you like best? What do you think of this kind of movie promotion?
