MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – DEAD RECKONING – PART 1 Trailer

Tom Cruise and that score are back for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part 1.
As the title implies, the story here will take two films to complete, an epic befitting the alleged end for Cruise’s Ethan Hunt. With Cruise pushing 60 years old, it’s hardly a surprise to see him bow out of the series that requires the most of him physically (we all remember that ankle break from Fallout, right?), and this trailer shows that he isn’t holding back on the massive stunts that are the series’ M.O.
Everything else is being withheld for now, including any details of the plot. There’s hazy talk about Hunt being forced to take a side (no surprise there), but instead of overt threats, this seems to be a division of the soul. Something about the very nature of right and wrong? Sounds like an existential send-off to me.
The whole team that’s built latter-day Mission: Impossible with Cruise returns, including co-stars Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Rebecca Ferguson, and Vanessa Kirby. Joining the fun are Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, and Esai Morales.
The other big returner is writer and director Christopher McQuarrie. One can argue that he’s as key to the series’ revival as Cruise, giving Rogue Nation and Fallout a breathless pace no one is even attempting to replicate. If the duo find their groove yet again, this will be an epic goodbye to a beloved cinema character. Now to wait a whole year for the movie.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part 1 is directed by Christopher McQuarrie and stars Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Rebecca Ferguson, and Hayley Atwell. It will be released worldwide in July 2023. To keep up with its release date, click here.
