Dedication to stop-motion animation means Laika’s films are few and far between, but their latest offering is finally upon us with Missing Link.

The film follows an explorer looking for the legendary upright ape of the Pacific Northwest (aka Bigfoot or Sasquatch), and spoiler-but-not-a-spoiler, he finds the creature. Getting the big guy back to society is a whole different challenge, though, as the now-named Mr. Link is a quite intelligent fellow who can’t seem to fit into human society. Hijinks ensue, with the combination of odd couple and fish out of water scenarios promising plenty of big laughs.

Any Laika release will attract a decent amount of fans, especially after the huge success of their last film, Kubo and the Two Strings. As one of the few bastions of stop-motion animation, all of which they seemingly spare no expense on, their films appeal to just as many adults as they do children.

That reputation also means they attract top voice talent, with Hugh Jackman, Zach Galifianakis, and Zoe Saldana as just a few of the big-name actors signed on for Missing Link. Writing and directing stayed in-house with Laika veteran Chris Butler (ParaNorman), which should all add up to a movie that provides quality entertainment for the whole family.

Missing Link is directed by Chris Butler and stars Hugh JackmanZoe Saldana, and Timothy Olyphant. It will be released in the UK on April 5th, 2019 and in the US on April 12th, 2019. For international release dates, click here.
