MIS-DROP: Dropped Into A War Zone From Space

This awesome short shows you the mysterious disappearance of Private Glenn. His mission is to be dropped on a planet, though we don’t know what else the mission entails. All we see, constantly, is his face – he was recorded by the camera mounted on his helmet, and all we see from his surroundings is what’s reflected on that helmet.

When they fly to the drop-zone, Glenn’s fellow soldiers pull a prank on him, but then, something goes horribly wrong, and they’re dropped into the middle of a war zone. Watch it full-screen, and enjoy.

A great little feature is the heart monitor in the bottom right corner – keep a close eye on it, because while the Private looks very calm externally, his hearts takes great leaps. A fun feature that adds to the drama.

So, apparently, these guys are “contractors”, mercenaries – and the money counter at the top right of the screen suggest they get paid by the amount of time they spend on their mission and in combat. The “investigation” the short begins and ends with suggests this is a private employer. Glenn has ended up MIA, and apparently the company has no idea where he is, and the person watching the video is quite shocked at what he’s seeing.

This is an awesome short, in my opinion, and I wish there was more – I want to know more about this war, the company that’s contracting these mercenaries… Is it aliens they’re fighting against? Does it take place in an alternate reality? It’s left me very curious and eager for more.

This short was directed and created by Ferand Peek, and Glenn was played by Eliot TraversPeek is currently working on a feature-length film about AI. If Mis-Drop is any indication of what this film is going to be like… Count me in.

Find out more about Mis-Drop on the film’s website.

What do you think? Are you as curious to find out more about Private Glenn’s story as I am?

Don’t forget to share this short on your social networks 🙂 Thanks!
