MEN IN BLACK: INTERNATIONAL Trailer

A new generation has taken over management of human-alien relations in Men in Black: International, but they’ve kept the sharp suits that are their trademark.

The trailer feels like much the same blend of kooky action and quippy characters as the original series, even maintaining the odd couple dynamic between the two primary agents. Here it’s Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson pairing up, with Thompson as an eager young recruit and Hemsworth as the old hand. They represent a collaboration between the US and UK branches of the organization to solve a mysterious issue within the UK office, but luckily, the trailer makes clear that they won’t be confined to their desks.

A new man is at the helm of the movie series as well, with F. Gary Gray taking over from Barry Sonnenfeld, who directed all three previous entries. Gray made his name in action and came into prominence with Straight Outta Compton and The Fate of the Furious, so he should be comfortable with the series’ flippant take on aliens living among us.

Hemsworth and Thompson seem like a perfect fit as well after the similarly pitched Thor: Ragnarok, and they’ve got a hell of a supporting cast behind them. Emma Thompson reprises her role as head of the US branch while Liam Neeson has the same position in the UK, with Rebecca Ferguson, Rafe Spall, and Kumail Nanjiani also appearing.

Men in Black: International is shaping up to be as slick as a well-tailored suit, and really, isn’t that what this series is all about?
