Since Film Inquiry started in 2015, hundreds of contributors from all over the world have published over 6,000 long-form articles, ranging from in-depth beginner’s guides, to film theory, to reviews of historical films and the most recent releases on this platform. Film Inquiry celebrates film and TV in all its various shapes; our writers unabashedly share their passion for the art.

It has become increasingly evident that digital advertising is not a sustainable source of income for online publications. By becoming a patron, you support a growing platform that promotes journalistic integrity, unconditional inclusion and an unrivaled passion for film.

Future: Film Inquiry Film Fund

Once we reach critical mass, we aim to give back to the independent filmmaking community.

Through our partnership with Seed&Spark, we will give back to the independent film community by supporting crowdfunding campaigns with a percentage of our profits per month. Members will be involved in deciding which campaigns will receive funding through voting.

Why does Film Inquiry offer memberships?

For online film journalism to be(come) sustainable, and for us to be able to continue to support and promote films and filmmakers around the world, as well as to pay our staff for their work, we generate income through several streams: digital advertising, sponsored articles from our partners, and memberships. We are very proud to offer a direct way for our readers to be involved with a platform they love.

Are your articles hidden behind a Paywall?

They used to be, but our articles are now freely available. At Film Inquiry we believe paywalls will not be the future of online publishing, and so our archives of over 6000 articles and 40-50 new articles per week, weekly newsletter and social media channels are available to everyone. Memberships get access to other interesting perks as outlined above!

What do memberships go toward?

Membership fees go towards our platform upkeep and hosting, expenses related to our day-to-day business, and paying our staff based on a profit-sharing plan that encourages quality and creativity. In the near future, membership fees will also contribute towards our Film Inquiry Film Fund and Grants.

I'm not interested in a membership, but would still like to support Film Inquiry with a one-time contribution. How do I do that?

How are the Film Inquiry memberships managed?

Memberships are processed through Memberful, using Stripe as the payment terminal. Memberful may contact you with invoices, renewal notices or expired credit card alerts. Your membership perks are handled by Film Inquiry via email.

What is Film Inquiry's stance on diversity & inclusion?

Film Inquiry is WOC and LGBTQ+ owned, and is actively involved with promoting intersectional diversity and inclusion in Hollywood and film criticism. We are unconditionally inclusive in regards to our team and we actively promote films created by diverse filmmakers.

Film Inquiry is allied with Women of Color Unite, which promotes fair access, fair treatment and fair pay for women of color in all aspects of the entertainment and media industries.
