LONG SHOT Trailer

Seth Rogen tries to up his game in Long Shot, the latest from director Jonathan Levine.
His character is going after Charlize Theron, an old flame turned political powerhouse on track for the US Presidency. However, her ascension stalled her personal life, which their chance meeting kick-starts. Launching a relationship and a run at the US Presidency at the same time isn’t ideal, but love is love, and everyone would probably be overjoyed for them if he wasn’t a politically disastrous man. You see, Rogen is a slacker journalist, so not ideal first gentleman material.
The premise makes it seem like another odd couple comedy for Levine, who leaned into this subgenre previously with 50/50 and Warm Bodies. Both of those had a sweet, surprisingly complicated heart that added heft to the fun, and there’s hints in this trailer that Long Shot may go in a similar direction.
That would fit with the casting of Theron and Rogen, who’ve both made their fair share of dramedies. Theron killed it in Young Adult and the laugh riot Tully while Rogen has stared in several of Levine’s previous films. Whether this turns out to be a straight comedy or something with a bit more meat, Long Shot has the makings of a good time at the movies.
Long Shot is directed by Jonathan Levine and stars Seth Rogen, Charlize Theron, and Alexander Skarsgård. It will be released in the US and the UK on May 3rd, 2019. For international release dates, click here.
