A Venture Into Darkness

You never know what the future holds, but if mankind goes south like it does in so many movies, the future looks incredibly bleak.
Dark forces abound in Guillermo Del Toro’s new haunted mansion horror movie Crimson Peak. Loki Tom Hiddleston and Jessica Chastain are siblings hiding deadly secrets in 19th Century London. This film looks like a strong return to horror after Pacific Rim and his work on the Hobbit films.
Nothing I can say will do this movie justice. Based on the graphic novel of the same name by Daniel Schaffer, Scribbler is a dark, twisted trip into a futuristic mental illness halfway house. That’s all, go see it now, read the last post while you’re waiting for the popcorn.
And with every movie that goes for the happy ending, it’s important to remember that things don’t always work out. In storytelling, there’s a reason “Why Dark Endings Matter”.
