LICORICE PIZZA Trailer

Paul Thomas Anderson takes us back to the ’70s in Licorice Pizza.
Young love seems to be the focus of the movie, which has long been a mystery on the release schedule. Little information was released, with the official title being announced just last month as the trailer played in front of a handful of select screenings before releasing online. All people needed to know, though, was that it was PTA movie, because who doesn’t get excited for another film from the Boogie Nights, Punch-Drunk Love, and There Will Be Blood writer/director?
The film stars a couple of new faces but familiar names, with Cooper Hoffman (son of Philip Seymour Hoffman) and Alana Haim (one-third of the band Haim) playing a couple in puppy love wandering through the 1970s San Fernando Valley. They’ve got some ins with people who are big in the business since Cooper’s character is a rising teen actor, which means the star-studded supporting cast, including Bradley Cooper, Sean Penn, and Benny Safdie, are often playing known figures from the period.
The icing on this very PTA-feeling movie is the influence of Jonny Greenwood as the composer, who seems to be attached to every film the director makes now. Music is important in his movies (it’s even important in this trailer), so why not stick with one of the best in the business? If audiences ask the same question, then they’ll go see Licorice Pizza.
Licorice Pizza is directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and stars Cooper Hoffman, Alana Haim, and Bradley Cooper. It will be released in the US on November 26th, 2021. For international release dates, click here.
