Emmet and Lucy AKA Wyldstyle are back for a new adventure in The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part.

In this follow up to the smash hit The LEGO Movie, Bricksburg has transformed into a Mad Max-esque wasteland society. Emmet remains chipper as ever despite the dust bowl circumstances and nothing seems to be able to dampen his spirits. That is until a LEGO Duplo® spaceship arrives and begins kidnapping citizens of Bricksburg – including Lucy. Determined to save his friend, oh and everyone else too of course, Emmet builds himself a space cruiser and takes off after them, finding himself in a new world full of new adventures.

The trailer promises a winning combination of action and adventure, that trademark LEGO® comedy, and lots of pop culture references – a mix which should keep everyone in the family entertained. Chris Pratt and Elizabeth Banks are back, reprising their leading roles from the first film. Other returning fan favourites include Will Arnett as Batman, Nick Offerman as Metal Beard, and Alison Brie as Unikitty. Joining the squad for this new instalment are Tiffany Haddish as Queen Watevra Wa-Nabi, Stephanie Beatriz as Sweet Mayhem, and Arturo Castro as Ice Cream Cone.

The LEGO Movie 2 has a new pair of directors on board – Mike Mitchell and Trisha Gum. It’s certainly refreshing to see a major animated film getting released with a female co-director, as both 2017 and 2018 saw zero major animated films released with a female director attached.

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part will be released in both the US and the UK on the 8th of February 2019. More international release dates may be found here.
