LADY BIRD Trailer

Greta Gerwig moves behind the camera and back in time with Lady Bird, a semi-autobiographical tale of a teen navigating the end of her school years.
It’s one of those ‘figuring yourself out’ movies, a topic Gerwig has dipped into a few times through her collaborations with Noah Baumbach. As co-writer and star of both Mistress America, Gerwig’s quirky but critical eye shone through, and the recent branching out of her acting career has brought her under the tutelage of directors like Mike Mills, Pablo Larraín, and Mia Hansen-Løve.
The point is, Gerwig’s had a lot of time to develop her voice and learn from some of the industry’s best, so expectations are high for her first solo venture. Then you add in the hype of Lady Bird featuring Saoirse Ronan in the title role, about which there’s not much to say except that she is one of the preeminent actors of her generation.
So Lady Bird brings us an anomaly: a tale of messy self-exploration, only about a young woman and told by a pair of accomplished women. There’s a litany of other reasons to be excited for it, but really, isn’t that enough?
Lady Bird is directed by Greta Gerwig and stars Saoirse Ronan, Laurie Metcalf, and Tracy Letts. It will be released in the U.S. on November 10th, 2017. Further release dates are not currently known.
