Killing Hasselhoff is an upcoming comedy about Chris Kim (Ken Jeong), a man who loses his business and becomes indebted to an underworld figure for $400,000 which he has to get together in the next three days in order to stay alive. Chris and his friends get together each year to play the ‘celebrity death pool’, a game in which participants predict which celebrity dies first, if he manages to win this year’s pool all his financial troubles would be over, he would even have some money left over.

The problem is that to make this happen he has to ensure the death of his chosen celebrity. Given the fact that Chris has always chosen David Hasselhoff, he now has to make sure the Hoff dies in the very near future. He enlists the help of a few friends and hijinks ensue as Chris and his friends try to stay one step ahead of underworld figures who are suddenly very interested in the demise of David Hasselhoff.

One of the best things about this trailer is the fact that David Hasselhoff is fine with making fun of his own work. In an industry in which perception is often key, it is refreshing to see someone who’s had a very successful career doesn’t mind being made fun of whether it’s by participating in a Comedy Central roast or by appearing in films like this or the recent Baywatch reboot.

Killing Hasselhoff is directed by Darren Grant and stars Ken Jeong, Jim Jefferies, Rhys Darby, Jon Lovitz, and David Hasselhoff. It will be released in the U.S. on August 29th, 2017. For international release dates, click here.
