JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM Trailer

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is bringing back the dinosaurs, and that’s all we really care about, right?

Okay, they do have to put some semblance of a plot around the T-Rex and the Velociraptors, so as the second in a planned trilogy, Fallen Kingdom also sees the return of Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire and Chris Pratt’s Owen to Isla Nublar. The island apparently has an active volcano now, and Claire, in a pro-dino phase of her life, has decided that they must be saved from the impending eruption.

So that’s the requisite setup for why the hell they go back to an island full of dinosaurs, which clears the way for plenty of dinos chasing delectable human morsels. That’s pretty much all the trailer shows, but there is some indication that they successfully capture some animals, including a T-Rex. But come on, we all know what happens if that gets back to the mainland (RIP brave but idiotic dog).

Director J.A. Bayona has hinted that there’s more to this film, but considering that it’s based off a script from the same team as the perfunctory Jurassic World, I’m taking that assertion with a grain of salt. Still, Bayona has proven very adept at big effects with The Impossible and A Monster Calls, so I expect the stuff we all care about (dinosaurs and maybe a good volcanic eruption) will be viscerally pleasing.

And hey, Claire’s wearing functional boots this time!

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is directed by J.A. Bayona and stars Bryce Dallas HowardChris Pratt, and BD Wong. It will be released in the U.K. on June 8th, 2018 and in the U.S. on June 22nd, 2018. For international release dates, click here.
