JUNGLE CRUISE Trailer

Now that travel is back on it’s time to set sail with Jungle Cruise, the latest from director Jaume Collet-Serra.

This is yet another attempt by Disney to convert one of their theme park rides to a movie, this time spinning the ride of the same name into a grand adventure in search of the tree of life. Embarking on the journey is an enthusiastic scientist named Lily and her less enthusiastic brother, McGregor. Their search takes them deep into the jungle, so they hire the riverboat captain Frank to lead them, but even for an expedition they knew would be dangerous, they encounter much more than they bargained for.

Yes, this could be viewed as a blatant cash grab by Disney, but they rounded up some real talent to stage the adventure. Collet-Serra is the guy for streamlined fun and is on quite a hot streak with The Commuter, The Shallows, and Run All Night.

Then there are the stars, which is led by the ultra-charming duo of Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt as the grizzled captain and the scientist, respectively. Co-starring with them is Jack Whitehall, Edgar Ramírez, and Jesse Plemons.

So yes, it’s a cash grab, but it sure looks like a fun cash grab.

Jungle Cruise is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and stars Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, and Jack Whitehall. It will be released in the US and the UK on July 30th, 2021 (with simultaneous availability on Disney+ Premiere Access). For international release dates, click here.
