I’M YOUR WOMAN Trailer

A woman goes on the run with the perfect accomplice, a baby, in I’m Your Woman, the latest from co-writer/director Julia Hart.
Jean knew what her husband did. She knew he was a criminal, but she never expected that he wouldn’t come home or that she would be squirreled away by strangers while men hunted her down. Without a word from her husband her life is turned upside down, and she has to learn the trade quickly to keep herself and her baby alive.
Set in the ’70s, this crime drama fits in nicely with the jumble that is Hart’s career. Having done a wayward twentysomething dramedy in Miss Stevens, a superhero family drama in Fast Color, and a plucky Disney movie with Stargirl, sure, why not a period, on the run crime film? It’s not like her career is following any linear path or like she’s stumbled on anything yet. Might as well keep stretching her wings.
Also stretching her wings is star Rachel Brosnahan, whose career exploded with the tv show The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. In that she headlines as a housewife turned stand-up comic while here leaving the house involves much more danger. It will be interesting to see how she handles action, and if she pulls it off, it will serve as a nice image shakeup. Co-starring with her is Arinzé Kene and Marsha Stephanie Blake.
In a year with so little newness, I’m Your Woman promises to put unexpected people in a familiar genre, and that’s enough to make it stand out.
I’m Your Woman is directed by Julia Hart and stars Rachel Brosnahan, Arinzé Kene, and Marsha Stephanie Blake. It will be released on Amazon Prime in the US on December 11th, 2020. Further release dates are not currently known.
